John Flood owned the stables. My sister was the rider in our family. I mostly rode in the corral. Once a bee stung my horse and it threw me. As I lay on the ground, the horse came up to me and nudged me with its muzzle like it was apologizing to me.…

I have VERY fond memories of Old Trails Stables.  Who else remembers?  Trails - High Trail, Low Trail, Trout Lake Trail (early trails southwest of the stables) and later Back Trail .  Horses - Cochise, Polka, Honey, Squeaky, Zero, Flicka, Flame, and…

Theresa - I don't remember that person - Dianne Boekeloo posted that. But, I have asked her if she remembers.

I completely forgot about The Puppet Man, sitting in the hardware store or wherever I can't remember. I was very small. But I do remember the magic I felt. Thinking this is so cool. Growing up in a small town you didn't get to see stuff like this ve…

Our families merged our collections together and we have them in a sweet little cabinet in our cottage.

When Henry Johnson left Pentwater, we found him again in Ferry, Mich. not too far away. He lived in a small house chock full of his bigger (MUCH bigger) creations -- all fabulous -- with a little separate studio building in the back (probably was th…

I certainly do the glass blower at Baileys hardware store. I remember as a smalll child going in there with friends and watching in amazement, him turn blown glass into these remarkable treasure. I think I was like other children in Pentwater, savin…

If the project moves forward, the developers will likely have to prepare an environmental assessment. A NEPA environmental assessment would require public meetings.

Excellent! You know have a transmission grid to hook into as the BC Cobb Coal Fired Power Plant will be closing. This was announced by Consumers yesterday. AND, there is a trend in favor of siting wind turbines on Brownfields. A win, win for everyon…

I remember the "puppet man" also. His skeleton puppet performed to a scary song that still conjures images of him when I hear it.

Yes, his name was Henry Johnson. He was very creative. Once we even were given a lesson and allowed to make our own "creation". There are many of his treasures on display at the library in a glass case.

I didn't know you could do it either! The family has the Pentwater bug and I'm trying to find cottages to rent. I saw your post regarding the wind farm and was of course concerned.

The wedding was beyond description: 20 or so of us stood outside the club in bright sun; the bride and her attendants were barefoot of course and things just went on being special from there!
