Lake Michigan living at its best

Remember the times when Pentwater Homecomings were just that? All the kids, from all the local families, were reunited at the band concerts. I miss the concerts the most. When Don Lamb had control over the town. When I returned for a Homecoming a few years ago, there were alot of tourists, but no recognition of the old days, but then with our age, we all have changed in looks, haha. It still gives me the feeling of home, just being in town. Pentwater's beach should be voted the best beach award, as no where else compares.

Homecoming is still Homecoming..... Nothing stays the same... I do think the parade is dominated by MS and it has been calculated. It's an event to benefit all.... I appreciate all who come to enjoy our little village, but take offense to any entity trying to dominate something that belongs to all people of OUR village/area. It's interesting that this didn't happen before we had certain citizens moving into our community.... I feel the Grand Marshal should be someone who actually invests much volunteer time to our community over the year/years.... It's kinda a slap in the face when you see someone who has been here for a short time given this status. Were all just people and it's the simple people, who usually get zero recognition, that make our community a community..... They deserve that spot...

I do remember when Homecomings were Homecomings. Although I'm a MSU grad, it seems like this has turned into a Spartan Parade. Probably a sign of the times. Speaking of band concerts - I attended the July 23rd concert and the village green was only 1/2 full. That was a first for me. Must have been the cool weather.
